a number of you mentioned you had things you would like to see in the projected Tortall companion.
Well, now might be a good time. WAIT!!!!!
DO ME A FAVOR. Check the entries previous to yours to see if someone else has already made the suggestion you're about to make. If someone has, just add "me, too" or something like it so we know there's a demand for that thing.
Remember I'm still working on MASTIFF and this will go easier if I don't have to wait through a thousand posts!
But seriously, suggest what you would like to see. We can't promise anything, but we'll listen!

And for the Fiefs - colours/coats of arms/ruling families/major exports...
I agree with maps - I have always wondered where things are.
Immortals Images - like the Monster Manual in Dungeons & Dragons - shows an image of them and what their powers are, and that kind of thing.
What is the night sky like? How does the Cat constellation fit in? What does the sky look like with out the Cat?
Weapons - I would like to see the swords, glave and fan that the Yamani women use....
Images of the Gods and which peoples worship them, and what they rule over - I want to see the Graveyard Hag!!!! The Black God... and his realm...
I'm so excited! I love companion books so much and I reread your books all the time and I've always thought how great it would be to have a full fledged companion guide because the appendixes with all the people and explanations and the maps are always so awesome and helpful &hearts
also, more info on the Gift^_^;; were people always born with the Gift, or is it left over from the Ysir, etc.
oh, and more info on the Ysir in general:P
~Angel
Though maybe they just don't fit the later worldbuilding? I dunno.
I second the family tree idea. It would be great to see the Tortall Royal Family tree if nothing else. Which, speaking of family trees That Roger name popping up in Bloodhound gave me quite a twitch!
I'd love some more imagrery and design details of the Yamani Islands and the other more Northern Countries.
And since we're in the position to ask - What is the theatrical world like in Tortall with all the magic available? That would make for some fun stories! :)
Royal lineages. I did a double take when I found out there was a very young princess in the Conte line and was like "What?! She was never mentioned!"
Carthak, the Copper Isles, Tortall, and perhaps the Yamani Islands as well. (Scanra's changes so much I'm not sure there would even BE a record, but it's not my world so I wouldn't know ;) And other countries would be nice too, if there's time) Thiings like how rulers took power, maybe some major changes that took place in their rules...
Also, I would LOVE to know more about the Chamber of the Ordeal.
And
A brief touch on the political structures and histories of neighbouring lands - eg. how did Carthak become an empire in the first place, do Galla and Maren have kings or rulers with other titles, has Sarain always been ruled by Warlords? That kind of stuff.
Also... Kitten. I want to know about the dragons. Kitten's family tree, maybe. Or how the Dragon Council was formed. What happened to make that one dragon- I forget her name, and can't dig my copy up right now- hate humans so much? Before the immortals were locked from the world, what role did the dragons play?
That just bubbled over to this idea What stories do the Gods tell of their creation? Who came first Gods or humans? Do they even talk about what came in the earliest times of their lives?
forced to beunmade). An overview of Tortall's various eras would be nice.It also doesn't have to be overly detailed, again we all know the books, it just gathers each character's main story all in once place.
I'd love to read (or even listen to!!) songs about Tortall. C'mon, there have to be bards and minstrels singing dozens of songs about Alanna!
Pleeeeease?
Other suggestions:
*Detailed maps (geographical and topographical, plus weather patterns?)
*The Tortall calendar, plus any major holidays
*Common recipes/dishes
*Imports/exports of the countries
*Types of currency, how much various things are worth
*guide to flora/fauna/immortals living in Tortall (bios, there territories, uses, etc)
Everyone really seems to want info about the countires around Tortall. Why not have a section for each country with information about that country's culture, religion, what people of that counrty wear, important people from that country (Daine is from Galla, Numair from Tusaine), their law system and any other info people want to know about. You could include maps and diagrams and things for each country. It's an idea...I am SO EXCITED about this!
Some images of clothing would be very cool - though not particularly iconic ones because some stuff still needs to be left up to the imagination. ;) I'd like to know the general staple fashions of the different types of people in Tortall, and those from other countries too.
a timeline, preferrably with bits added in that were only revealed in backstories and stuff. -- me too
an image for the major characters
I would just KILL to have it illustrated with images of the Main Cast of Characters - we knew what some of them are from book covers - but what about everyone else?????
Weapons - I would like to see the swords, glave and fan that the Yamani women use....
Images of the Gods and which peoples worship them, and what they rule over - I want to see the Graveyard Hag!!!! The Black God... and his realm...
-- me too to all of these
Also, I would LOVE to know more about the Chamber of the Ordeal. -- me too

What happened to make that one dragon- I forget her name, and can't dig my copy up right now- hate humans so much? ******
I would like to know how Alanna settled in with George. I want to know about their marriage ceremony - it seems ripe for possible difficulties *G* ... and her life with her family.
I'd like to know more of George's story - pre-Alana.
I'd like the bloodlines of Alanna's horses ... and pictures of them.
I'm re-reading Bloodhound now (for the umpteenth time) and I'd like to know the history of the 'Dogs' -- how did they start? Why are they so poorly paid that they collect Happy Bags? Why doesn't the Kingdom value them as they could be valued?
I'd like to know the history behind the characters, each one. And why the author wrote them up as she did. Did they spring full-born like Athena? or were they a development that was needed to round out a story? or all of the above?
I'm sure I have more, but this will do for now.
I love him so much. He and Numair are two of my favorites.
I'd like more about all of the Rougue kings or queens (including Rosto)
And wha HAPPENED to the Dogs? They're gone now.
