Limbaugh and Sandra Fluke

mr peepers
If anyone is wondering why I haven't said anything about Rush Limbaugh and his vile characterization of Georgetown student Sandra Fluke, it's because I'll have a migraine if I even try. I hate these people who hurl vicious epithets at women who do no more than express their opinions.

“This is about expanding the reach and power of government into your womb, if you're a woman. This is about the Democrat Party wanting more and more control over you. What was early feminism all about? Emancipation, individuality, freedom, liberation, all of these things. Now here comes Danica Patrick out and she says, "I'm perfectly comfortable letting the government make my health decisions for me." Well, folks, I'm gonna tell you: Right there, that's the death and the end of feminism.”
Can I just say how much this quote bothered me, especially with all the legislation that the republicans keep pushing for transvaginal ultrasounds and all the other anti-woman bills. It is not like they're requiring women to take birth control, but every woman should be able to decide what happens to her own body.

But hey, Rush knows what feminism is!

Rush knows
I doubt it. I think his feminine side is currently in a women's shelter safe house for victims of domestic abuse.

Does he really?

(Strongly suspecting that we're in agreement on the answer, but playing out the Q&A string for whatever it's worth...)

You might be glad to know a few of Limbaugh's sponsors pulled their advertisments because of his comment. These include (but there may be more soon): Legal Zoom, Quicken Loans, Sleep Train Mattress Centers, and Sleep Number. I realize that the reason they did it is because they were harassed by customers who were outraged by Limbaugh's comments, but they still did it and that says a lot.

keep an eye on those sponsors though - they might recommit themselves to him once the furor has died down - that sort of thing has happened before

I know what you mean. I've gotten to the point of having to stop looking at political blogs just to keep my blood pressure down. I'm really starting to consider moving to Europe. America is becoming a scary place if you don't happen to have a penis.

But at least there's this:

Does Lunacon have a blog? You could ask there. They stopped doing the train station shuttle.

I'm avoiding it because it's really not news. Hate filled bigot spouts hate filled bigotry. Top news.

The only times it got interesting was when the sad bottom-feeder found his ad reventue feeling for the hills.

I know two wrongs don't make a right, but the female legislators who have put forward bills regarding men's health in order to prove a point make me happy: http://www.progressohio.org/blog/2012/03/senator-turner-introduces-legislation-to-protect-mens-health.html
